AEGIS DATABASE // REPORT 12

BRIEFING: ASYNC TAPES & THE MIRROR REALITY THEORY
CLASSIFICATION: CRITICAL / LEVEL 5 CLEARANCE
DATE: June 05, 2026
LOCATION: Sector 1 Briefing Room
ATTENDEES: Unit Gemini (All Hands), Dr. Thorne, Dr. Vance, Sr. Officer Miller

I. RETURN TO OPERATIONS

Following the 7-day safety shutdown, all AEGIS personnel have returned to active status. Stability checks on Sector 1 came back nominal. Morale is cautious but functional. Unit Gemini has completed gear maintenance and stands ready for deployment. Wulfsige confirmed all loadouts at 07:45. He has not commented on whether he still does not trust the quiet.

II. THE COBALT-BLACK DISCOVERY

Before their lockout, Cobalt-Black Dynamics transmitted a data packet to AEGIS Command. The packet contains findings from a "Lost Sector" located near the Fracture site — an area their teams had reached before the May 25 incident.

III. TAPE ANALYSIS — THE 1980s ANOMALY

Dr. Thorne presented digitized footage from the recovered tapes to the full briefing room.

The footage depicts a team of scientists exploring the Backrooms. The equipment is bulky, analogue, consistent with late 1980s to early 1990s technology. The team is methodical — they move through corridors that are recognizably identical to the ones we operate in today, using magnetic distortion devices and spray-painted orientation markers, speaking casually about "storage quotas" and "acquisition timelines."

They were here before us. Decades before us. In a facility that looks exactly like ours.

IV. THE MULTIVERSE HYPOTHESIS

Dr. Vance proposed the Mirror Reality Theory to explain the tapes.

The Fractures are not rooms. They are bleed-throughs — points where the dimensional boundary between parallel Earths has thinned to the point of contact. ASYNC Research Institute is the AEGIS equivalent of a parallel Earth — one where the Threshold was opened in the 1980s. They found it first. They operated here first. And then, based on the condition of the abandoned equipment and the abrupt ending of the tape archive, something happened to them.

Their operational philosophy is immediately distinguishable from ours. They are not researchers. They are colonizers. They refer to infinite rooms as "Sector Storage A." They discuss "real estate yield" and "resource extraction timelines." They treat the Complex as a warehouse to be filled.

V. STRATEGIC THREAT ASSESSMENT

Wulfsige: "So — are they still here? Are we going to run into a squad of 80s soldiers around the next corner?"
Luca: "If they opened it first... why are their tapes just lying in the dust? What happened to them?"

These are the two questions that matter. We do not yet have answers to either.

New Mandate:

  1. Objective: Locate more ASYNC data. We need to establish whether their operation ended, and if so, how. The answer to that question is also an answer about what is capable of ending an organized, well-resourced team operating in this environment.
  2. Caution: If ASYNC treats this Complex as a warehouse, they may regard AEGIS as trespassers in their inventory. If any ASYNC personnel are still active, first contact must be approached with extreme care.

We are sharing this space with ghosts of another timeline. We do not know yet if they are just ghosts.

End of Briefing.
