AEGIS DATABASE // REPORT 17

INCIDENT REPORT: THE ESCALATOR ANOMALY & MALL DISCOVERY
CLASSIFICATION: RESTRICTED / NEW BIOME CONFIRMED
DATE: June 29, 2026
LOCATION: Sector 9 (Sub-Level 4.5)
SUBJECTS: Unit Gemini, Apex-Vanguard Solutions, Robotics Team

I. THE HALF-FLOOR DISCOVERY

During a secondary sweep of the Sector 9 elevator bank — the site of the Mimic incident documented in Report 04 — contractor teams located a maintenance hatch behind a false ceiling panel that had not been identified in prior mapping passes.

The hatch opened onto a previously unknown "Half-Floor": a space that defied the geometry of the surrounding structure. By any measurement of the floors above and below it, this space should not have room to exist. It does.

Inside: four escalators, running continuously. The upper ends of the "Up" escalators and the lower ends of the "Down" escalators disappeared directly into solid concrete — ceilings and floors, respectively — without any visible aperture or gap. The escalators were moving into solid matter and the matter was simply accepting them.

II. THE CONVEYANCE ANOMALY

While the team observed the active escalators, objects began appearing on the steps of the "Down" unit — materializing at the top, riding the belt toward the floor void, and disappearing into it. An inflatable pool toy. Several ceramic fragments. A rotary telephone. A framed painting of a sailboat.

Wulfsige and Luca sniffed each object as it passed within range.

Wulfsige: "They don't smell old. They don't smell new. They smell like nothing. Like they were just made."

Zero olfactory signature. The objects are not sourced from our reality. They are being generated by whatever process the escalators serve and delivered downward to wherever the belt terminates.

III. REMOTE DRONE INCURSION

The Robotics Team deployed a rover up the active "Up" escalator to determine where the belt emerged on the other side of the ceiling noclip zone.

The drone passed through without disruption and emerged into a large, dark, cavernous space. Its lights came on automatically. The beam illuminated a massive stainless-steel security shutter — the kind used to seal retail storefronts at close of business. Corrugated steel, commercial grade, locked at the bottom.

IV. THE IDENTIFICATION

Luca was watching the drone feed on the monitor when the shutter came into frame.

Luca: "Stop the feed. Zoom in on the gate. I know that gate. I saw it in the dead kid's phone footage." (pause) "That's the entrance. That's the Mall."

Frame-by-frame comparison with Subject Zero's recovered footage confirmed the match. The architectural details, the gate design, the floor tile visible beneath the shutter gap — identical. The escalators connect directly to the Mall biome from below.

We have found the door.

V. STRATEGIC MOBILIZATION

This confirms the location of a stable, large-scale biome within a viable distance from the central shaft and Threshold. The escalator access point provides a repeatable, navigable entry route — one that does not require the equipment we lost in Report 08 and does not involve the Void-Space or Fracture mechanics of Reports 10 and 14.

A full expeditionary force is being assembled. Unit Gemini will provide point security for the first manned entry into the Mall. Apex-Vanguard will provide tactical support. Science Team Beta will handle environmental sampling and mapping.

Luca has asked, twice, whether he can bring extra time at the fountain into the mission parameters. This is noted and has not yet been formally denied.

End of Report.
