AEGIS DATABASE // REPORT 19

SUPPLEMENTAL: SECURITY TEAM DELTA-2 EVACUATION LOG
CLASSIFICATION: CRITICAL INCIDENT / HIGH THREAT
DATE: July 03, 2026
LOCATION: Sector 9 (Escalator Room)
SUBJECT: Security Team Delta-2

I. MISSION OBJECTIVE

Following the Mall Incursion retreat, Security Team Delta-2 was dispatched to the Escalator Room the following morning to establish a hard barricade and place Class-A Red Tag warning signage at the hatch. Straightforward containment work. They were not expected to encounter anything.

II. ENVIRONMENTAL SHIFT

Delta-Lead reported immediate environmental degradation upon arrival at 09:00.

The room was dark. The previous day it had been normally lit. Now the overhead panels were dead, and the air was thick with condensation — not the ambient humidity of the corridor but active moisture, as if the temperature differential between something warm and something very cold was producing it continuously.

The bypass scaffolding erected for the Mall entry had been dismantled. Not disassembled — dismantled. Steel support poles were bent and scattered across the floor in positions inconsistent with a structural collapse. Something had taken the scaffolding apart with force and thrown the pieces.

One of the active escalators was emitting a continuous high-pitched mechanical shriek. It had not been making that sound the day before.

III. THE AUDITORY ANOMALY

As Delta-2 placed their barricades, a new sound began.

A rhythmic metallic impact. CLANG... (two seconds)... CLANG... Consistent interval. Imperfect rhythm — the kind that suggests deliberate manual action rather than mechanical repetition. Something was hitting metal in a pattern that was almost regular. Almost.

IV. THE INCIDENT — BODY MIC TRANSCRIPT

Source: Delta-Lead Body Mic. Time: 09:14 AM.

Delta-Lead: "Command, we are packing up. That noise is getting louder. It sounds like it's coming from inside the wall void."

Command (O'Connell): "Copy. Finish the seal and evac."

Delta-Lead: "Wait. Did you hear that? Stop moving."

(Audio captures the metallic clanging stopping abruptly. Five seconds of complete silence.)

Delta-Lead: "It stopped. It's listening to u—"

(A sound erupts on the recording. Deep, guttural, simultaneous human and distorted, amplified by the escalator shaft acoustics into something that fills the room. It is not a machine sound. It was aware enough to wait for them to speak before it answered.)

Delta-Lead: "GO. GO. DROP THE GEAR. MOVE."

(Equipment hitting concrete. Running footsteps. The electric whine of the transport cart accelerating to maximum.)

V. THE CHASE — RADIO LOG

Delta-Lead (09:15): "Command! We are en route! It's behind us! It's fast!"

Command: "Delta-Lead, report visual. What is pursuing?"

Delta-Lead: "I DON'T KNOW. I can hear it — it's heavy — it's hitting the walls — keep the door open, don't lock us out!"

Command: "Door is cycling. Gemini is en route to your position."

VI. THE INTERCEPT

Unit Gemini intercepted the fleeing cart at the Sector 9 junction. Delta-2 skidded to a halt, hyperventilating, pointing back down the corridor they had come from.

Wulfsige and Luca advanced 500 meters down the return path.

A remote sensor left behind by Delta-2 was found offline. Diagnostic: crushed. Not powered down, not shorted — the housing had been physically collapsed. Something had found it and destroyed it, specifically.

VII. CONCLUSION

Whatever pursued Delta-2 vanished the moment Unit Gemini arrived. The complete absence of olfactory trace is the most alarming data point in this report. Wulfsige can smell Bacteria. He can smell Mimics. He can smell the residual ozone of a closed Fracture hours after it sealed. He smelled nothing.

Either the entity does not produce biological odor — suggesting it is not biological — or it possesses the ability to mask its scent signature completely and selectively. Both possibilities are significantly worse than anything currently in our threat classification index.

It waited for them to speak before it responded. It stayed silent until it knew they could hear it. It destroyed the sensor they left behind.

Sector 9: Total quarantine. No entry without Level 5 Command authorization.

End of Report.
