SECURITY INCIDENT REPORT: ESCALATOR ROOM — SECOND INCURSION
CLASSIFICATION: CRITICAL / WATCHLIST PRIORITY ALPHA
DATE: July 05, 2026
LOCATION: Sector 9 (Escalator Room)
REPORTING OFFICER: Sr. Officer James Miller (TAC-OPS-0099)
Following the Delta-2 Evacuation Event (July 03 — See: Report 19), Sector 9 was placed under total quarantine. Remote motion sensors were installed at the corridor junction 600 meters from the Escalator Room. Unit Gemini was placed on 6-hour standby rotation.
At 04:40 hours, motion sensors at Junction 9-C triggered a silent alert. The signal was brief — less than 90 seconds of activity — before going quiet.
Command made the call. Unit Gemini was deployed to investigate.
Wulfsige and Luca arrived at the Escalator Room at 05:15 hours, moving dark — no flashlights until the threshold.
Environmental Status:
Luca's Olfactory Report: "It's been here. Recently. But it's gone now. The scent is... I don't know how to describe it. Old stone. Like a cave. Zero biological markers. No bacteria, no sweat, nothing warm."
Wulfsige: "The scent's already fading. Whatever it is, it left before we got here. It knew we were coming."
At 05:22 hours, Specialist Luca located the event origin point.
On the AEGIS-side of the primary barricade — the barrier between the escalator shafts and the corridor leading back toward the Threshold — a single handprint had been pressed into the drywall dust.
Physical Description:
The entity had crossed to the AEGIS side of the barricade. It had stood at the barrier. It had pressed one hand flat against the wall — facing back toward the Escalator Room — and then left.
Wulfsige: (Long silence) "It's not trying to get through."
Luca: "What do you mean? It crossed the barricade."
Wulfsige: "It crossed it, turned around, touched our side of the wall, and went back. It's not trying to get through. It's leaving a message."
Luca: "What message?"
Wulfsige: "That it knows where the door is."
Specialist Luca conducted an extended scent sweep of the surrounding 200-meter radius.
Luca's Assessment: "It didn't walk here. There's no trail in either direction. It was just... there. And then it wasn't."
This matches the movement profile from the Delta-2 chase: capable of rapid transit through the environment without generating a standard scent or acoustic signature.
Initial threat classification following Report 19 designated the entity as a territorial predator. This incident requires a significant revision.
Previous Model: Predatory pursuit. The entity chased Delta-2 as a threat response or hunting behavior.
Revised Model: Deliberate territorial communication. The entity pursued Delta-2 to expel, not kill. Once the team cleared its space, it did not follow — until now.
Crossing to the AEGIS side of the barricade and leaving a deliberate physical mark is not predation. It is communication. It is establishing, with physical evidence, that the boundary we believe protects us is one it can cross at will — and has chosen, so far, not to.
Sr. Officer Miller (debrief): "So it came to our door. Left a calling card. And walked away."
Wulfsige: "Yes, sir."
Miller: "That's more concerning than if it had attacked."
Wulfsige: "Yes, sir. It is."
Entity Designation: WATCHLIST PRIORITY ALPHA (Unchanged)
Threat Model: Upgraded from Territorial Predator to Deliberate Cognitive Actor
Sector 9 Status: Quarantine maintained. No personnel entry without full Gemini escort and Command authorization.
Barricade Status: Reinforced. Secondary barricade being constructed at Junction 9-C.
Unit Gemini Status: Both Specialists have been briefed on the behavioral reclassification. Wulfsige has requested that the handprint site be photographed and preserved with a physical casting before any further foot traffic disturbs the area. Request approved.
Dr. Thorne's Note: The entity left a mark we can measure, photograph, and cast. Whatever it is, it wanted us to find it. It is operating on a level of intent we have not previously encountered in this Complex. We are no longer dealing with fauna. We may be dealing with something that thinks.
End of Report.
