I. THE CAFETERIA INCIDENT

Something happened at lunch today that I've been thinking about ever since.

I was eating an apple — Red Delicious, the best kind, I will not be argued with on this — and watching the room the way I always do. Two guards from Delta Team were arguing. It built fast, the way those things do when people have been running on nothing for too long. One of them stood up and shoved the other. The room went instantly quiet.

My instincts said: fight. I was already baring my teeth. My legs were already coiling. I had a specific plan for which one I was going to tackle first.

Wulfsige stood up.

I forget sometimes how big he is. He spends a lot of time sitting on the floor with me or slouching in doorways, and you stop registering it. But when he stands up straight and takes up his full space, he blocks out the overhead lights. The whole room geometry changes.

He walked over. Slowly. No hurry. He put his hand — his dinner-plate hand — on the angry guard's shoulder. The guard spun around, saw Wulfsige standing there, and just... deflated. Like someone let the air out.

II. THE MAGIC TRICK

I expected growling. Fang display. The full "I am significantly larger than you and we both know this" approach. That's what I would have done. That's what works fast.

Instead he smiled. Not a wolf smile — the tired, honest one he saves for the people he actually respects. And he said:

"Hey. We're all tired. Let's take a breath, yeah?"

The guards apologized. Sat back down. The whole room exhaled. The tension didn't taper off — it snapped, instantly, like a wire cut. And then it was just lunch again.

I asked him later how he did it. Did he scare them? Was it the size?

He looked genuinely confused. He said: "No. I just reminded them we're on the same side. I got lucky they listened."

Lucky. He thinks it was luck. He doesn't realize that when he's calm, the room doesn't have a choice but to calm down too. It's like gravity. He shows up and the anger has nowhere to stand anymore.

III. REFLECTION

I want to be like that. I'm good at finding threats. I'm good at moving fast and getting between danger and the people behind me. But Wulfsige is good at people. He speaks some language that makes everyone feel like the fight isn't worth it, like being seen and okay is better than being right.

I told him he was cool. He punched me in the arm and told me to finish my apple.

He's the boss. Even when he pretends he isn't.

End of Log.
