PACK OBS // REPORT 06

PACK OBSERVATION REPORT 06: TERRITORIALITY & VISITOR PROTOCOLS
SUBJECTS: Unit Gemini (A-993-W / A-992-L)
OBSERVER: Chief of Maintenance (Incident Report Log) / Compiled by Dr. Elena Vance

I. THE "DEN" INSTINCT

Both Specialists understand, intellectually, that the Specialist Wing is AEGIS facility property. Lease terms are not a concept they would dispute. Nevertheless, their behavior toward this space is consistent with one biological classification and one classification only: Den Site.

The distinction matters. Property can be borrowed, reassigned, entered by authorized personnel. A den is pack territory. Entry is permitted at the pack's discretion, tolerated under specific conditions, and never truly forgotten.

II. THE VISITOR INTERACTION

Source: HVAC Maintenance Incident Log — Room 402 (Luca's Quarters)
Technician on Record: Robert S.

Robert arrived at the Specialist Wing for a scheduled HVAC filter replacement. His account, submitted as a standard maintenance log, has been retained here in full for behavioral documentation purposes.

When he knocked, the door opened immediately. Wulfsige was already there.

The Human Layer: Wulfsige greeted Robert by name. He asked how the repair schedule was looking this week. He retrieved a bottle of water from the shared fridge and offered it without being asked. He was, by Robert's own description, a perfectly pleasant host — attentive, courteous, unhurried.

The Wolf Layer: Wulfsige did not sit down for the duration of the visit. He remained in the doorway, leaning against the frame with the specific quality of stillness that his colleagues have learned to read as active. His position was not accidental — he was standing between the technician and the exit corridor. Not blocking it. Just… present at it. His eyes tracked every tool Robert picked up, set down, and moved.

He never said anything about it. He kept the conversation going the entire time.

Luca's Role:

Where Wulfsige guarded, Luca investigated. He relocated to the bed nearest the HVAC unit and observed the repair with the focused attention of someone watching a documentary about something he has decided he finds genuinely interesting.

Luca: "Is that a new filter type? Does it reduce static?"
Robert S.: "Uh — yeah, actually. New supplier."
Luca: "Huh." (continues watching)

Robert noted in his log that Luca asked three follow-up questions about airflow dynamics before the job was done. He also noted — and this detail is the reason the log was flagged for this report — that he felt, quote, "watched the whole time, but not in a bad way. More like being observed by something that was genuinely curious but also definitely keeping track."

That is an accurate description.

III. THE RESET

Corridor camera footage captured the following sequence after Robert's departure:

  1. Inspection: Wulfsige walked to the area of the room where the technician had spent the most time. He did not crouch. He did not make any motion that could be described as sniffing. He performed a visual scan of the carpet, identified a chair that had been shifted approximately two inches during the repair, and moved it back to its original position. Then he straightened up and went to make coffee.
  2. Reclaiming: Within ninety seconds of the door closing, Luca had opened the window and turned on the ceiling fan.
Analysis: To their olfactory systems, a visitor introduces a foreign scent profile into the den — a signal that the safe zone has been accessed by something outside the pack. The visual scan, the repositioned chair, the open window, the fan: these are not anxiety behaviors. They are housekeeping. They are scrubbing the foreign signature and restoring the space to its baseline state. Pack only. The process took less than five minutes. Once it was done, both Specialists returned to their normal evening routines without comment.

IV. CONCLUSION

Unit Gemini are excellent hosts. They are considerate, socially fluent, and make a genuine effort to put visitors at ease. Robert S. described the experience as pleasant and said he would have no hesitation returning for future maintenance calls.

He was also watched the entire time by two hybrid wolves who catalogued his every movement and immediately aired the room when he left.

Both things are true simultaneously. That is, increasingly, how Unit Gemini works.

End of Report.
